You're talking โ and suddenly TeamSpeak is gone. Everyone else too. Reconnecting fails. It's almost never you, and almost never the server. It's a DDoS attack: someone pours junk data onto the line until there is no room left for your voices. It usually lasts a few minutes โ then everything is back to normal.
Picture a road leading to our server. Normally your voices travel along it โ light traffic, everything flows. In a DDoS attack someone deliberately sends tens of thousands of empty trucks down that same road. The road isn't broken, it's just full. And because your voices can't get through any more, TeamSpeak drops you.
The three letters stand for Distributed Denial of Service. Distributed means the trucks don't come from one computer but from thousands at once, often from hijacked machines whose owners have no idea. That is exactly why you cannot simply lock out the attacker like a single troublemaker.
Important for you: no data is lost in a DDoS. Your account, your permissions, your channels and the online time you have collected all stay untouched. It is a traffic jam, not damage.
Three signs that together almost always mean an attack โ and not your internet.
The clearest sign. If it were your internet, only you would drop. If everyone drops at the same moment, it is the line to the server.
TeamSpeak tries, waits, gives up: "Failed to connect" or a timeout. Restarting doesn't help โ the road is still full.
YouTube loads, your game runs, this page opens. Only that one server is unreachable โ then you know for sure it isn't you.
An attack costs the attacker money and attention โ it stops on its own. Just wait and try again in a few minutes. You don't need to reinstall anything, reset anything or write to anyone.
Five to fifteen minutes. In the vast majority of cases TeamSpeak connects normally again afterwards โ without you having changed a thing.
