TeamSpeak is free and comes straight from the maker. We sell nothing and link only to the official site teamspeak.com — that is where you pick up the file for your computer or your phone. Both versions work on our servers.

TeamSpeak 6
the new version · still beta
Modern, tidy, good-looking — and it still works on our servers. “Beta” means: still being built, but it has been running just fine in everyday use for ages. If you are starting from scratch, take this one.
Looks a little dated, but runs on literally any computer and never crashes. If TeamSpeak 6 gives you trouble or your PC is getting on a bit: take TS3, that one always works.
Want to listen in on the go while the others are gaming? You can. The app is simply called “TeamSpeak 3” — search for it in the store or use the buttons below.
🤔 So which one should I take? Honestly: it really does not matter, you end up in the same rooms and hear the same people. When in doubt, TeamSpeak 6 — and if anything feels odd, just install TeamSpeak 3 alongside it. The two do not get in each other's way.
🚀 Four steps and you're in
From the download to your first “hello” it takes less than five minutes. Really. And you cannot break anything.
Install it
Download the file, double-click it, keep clicking “Next”. On the first start TeamSpeak asks for a nickname — pick how you want the others to see you.
💡 No account, no e-mail, no password. You can change the name at any time.
Connect
In the menu go to Connections → Connect (or Ctrl + S). Put one of our servers into the address field, for example 1.gamets6.com. You don't need a password.
💡 Even faster: click “Connect” at the server of the moment at the top of this page — your TeamSpeak opens all by itself.
Set up your microphone
Under Settings → Options → Capture you pick your microphone. Then decide how you want to talk: voice activation (transmits by itself when you speak) or push-to-talk (hold down one key).
💡 Loud keyboard or the TV on in the background? Take push-to-talk. It is the classic and it annoys nobody.
Sit down & start talking
On the left you see a long list of rooms — those are the channels. Double-click a room and you are inside. Whoever is already there is listed underneath.
💡 Just walk into “Lobby” or “Welcome” — that is where the people sit who are looking for someone as well.
❓ So what is TeamSpeak, actually?
Picture a house with lots of rooms. In every room a few people are standing around talking. You walk in, listen, join in — or move on to the next room. That is exactly what TeamSpeak is, only on a screen. The house is the server, the rooms are called channels.
Unlike a phone call, you don't have to ring anybody and nobody has to invite you. You are simply there. Whoever comes in sees straight away where something is going on — and sits down. That is why gamers have been using it for over 20 years: talking without anybody having to press a button.
TeamSpeak itself is only the program. The servers are run by people like us — privately, for the fun of it. You do not need a server of your own to join in. You simply hop onto somebody else's, the way you walk into a pub without owning it.

Ranks & rights
Small icons next to the name show who is an admin, how long somebody has been around or what they play.
🆚 And what about the other chat programs? They can do more: video, screen sharing, a thousand emojis. TeamSpeak can do one thing — talk — and it does that really well, sparingly, and without anybody recording who spoke to whom and when. If that is enough for you, you are better off here.

None of these is a silly question — everybody really does ask them.
Does TeamSpeak cost money?
No. The program is free for you, our servers are free, and there is nothing to buy from us — no premium, no advantages for money. You only pay if you want to run a server yourself, and that part is on us.
Do I have to sign up or create an account?
No. No e-mail, no phone number, no password. On the first start you type in a nickname — done. There is an optional myTeamSpeak account from the maker, but you do not need it here.
I can't hear anyone / nobody can hear me
That is the classic, and almost always it is the device selection. Go to Settings → Options → Capture (or Playback) and pick your headset there instead of “Default”. If you set up push-to-talk: really hold the key down while you speak. And the banal one — is the mic on your headset muted? There is often a little switch on the cable.
I can't find the server
Don't look for it in a list — type the address in directly. In TeamSpeak go to Connections → Connect, then for example 1.gamets6.com into the address field. Leave port and password empty. Even easier: press the green “Connect” button at the top of this page, it opens your TeamSpeak for you.
What is the difference between TeamSpeak 3 and TeamSpeak 6?
Only the looks and a few comfort things. TeamSpeak 6 is the new, more modern interface and still in its beta phase; TeamSpeak 3 is the old hand and runs completely without fuss. On our servers both end up in the same rooms — you hear each other, no matter who uses which one.
Does it work on a phone as well?
Yes. In the Play Store and the App Store there is the app “TeamSpeak 3”. Add a server, type in the address, connect. Great for listening in on the go — for talking, a headset on the PC is of course nicer.
Is this safe? Who is listening in?
You only speak in the room you are sitting in — the people next door do not hear you. Nothing is recorded, we do not record conversations and we do not sell data. What we store and what we do not is written out openly in our privacy policy.
I'm in — and now? There is nobody here.
That happens, we have a lot of servers. Two tips: check the home page to see which server has people on it right now — the number is listed for each one. And if you are looking for teammates for a particular game, the teammate market is the fastest way.
The server suddenly disappeared / I keep getting dropped
Then an attack has probably just caught us. That usually lasts 5 to 15 minutes and then sorts itself out. Just wait a moment and reconnect — or use one of the other servers in the meantime. Why this happens to us at all, we tell you under “About us”.
❤️ Why I use TeamSpeak
Very briefly, without the sales talk: I have been doing this since 2008. Back then our little crew moved from Skypecast onto my very first own TeamSpeak server — and we stayed, because TeamSpeak does one thing really well and otherwise keeps out of the way.
🔇 It does not distract. No colourful feeds, no notifications, no ads. Just people talking.
🏠 The server is mine. I decide what the rooms are called, who is an admin and what the rules are — not some company.
🕵️ Nobody is collecting on the side. No profiles, no analysis, no reselling. What is said in the channel stays in the channel.
🪶 It is frugal. Runs on ancient computers, barely touches your connection and does not disturb the game.
🛡️ Many small ones instead of one big one. After five years of daily attacks I would rather run nine small servers — if one goes down, the rest keep running.
🤝 It holds people together. Some of the folks from back then still sit in the channel in the evening. No feed can do that.
